What Is Retatrutide?
Retatrutide is an investigational peptide that interacts with three important metabolic pathways: GLP-1, GIP and glucagon. Because it targets all three receptors at the same time, it is commonly known as a triple agonist.
Each of these pathways has a different role in metabolism. GLP-1 is involved in appetite, digestion and glucose regulation. GIP plays a role in insulin signaling and how nutrients are processed, while glucagon is involved in glucose regulation and energy metabolism.
This unique three-part mechanism has made Retatrutide an important compound in ongoing metabolic studies, including studies looking at body-weight regulation, glucose metabolism, insulin signaling, energy balance and lipid metabolism.
Retatrutide is still under investigation and is not currently an approved medication.
